4th Year

On the 7th (September) it was the 4th year since my brother left home. We dearly miss him and have been praying all these years that he would rightly follow the Lord in his life and we will continue to pray as long as we have to. We all know how amazing prayer is!

Dear Josiah,

First off, I love you! I am praying for you and Marie and always will. You know what's right before God and men. It is worth it for sure to do what's right...even though it can be very hard sometimes! Take it from someone who knows.

I loved how close we used to be.
We laughed and cried together...we played "sword fights" together with sticks outside, we had tickle fights, we had secret inside jokes that nobody else knew, we read the Bible and sang Psalms together...We had TONS of fun together.

I miss those old times, brother! I praying one day we will have those great times back. In different ways sure, but a day we can truly be siblings again...not only in blood but in Christ. :)

I always wonder how I should start my blog updates...
My life has been great lately. School went great this week.
I have my emotional ups and downs (Tell me who doesn't?)
On Monday Tabitha picked up a cake at our local bakery that I ordered for a surprise for Daddy's birthday the weekend before. Man, was it ever YUMMY!

I got a lens upgrade. :)

Here is a picture my goat Demi. Handsome fellow isn't he? Good breeding blood. Teehee (I said Teehee???! I can't stand when people say that...sounds like immature dumb talk....but yeah I said that. Ooops!)

Our property looks old...wait it is...built before the Constitution was ratified!!

Young Living Essential oils are amazing! :) That's an obvious statement but they are such a blessing for my family! (And other families all around the world!)

I finally got a good amount of letter writing done...only to realize I have a lot more people on my "to write" list!
I always look forward to letters in the mail. So exciting! Always "makes my day"  even better!

Ohh, I got glasses! I am still wondering if I like the look...I look a little older. Hmm, still getting used to it. What do you think?

THE EPISTLE DEDICATORY  
To his most dear and precious ones, the sons and daughters of the Most High God, over whom the Holy Spirit has made him a Watchman.
Beloved in our dearest Lord, Christ, the Scripture, your own hearts, and Satan's devices, are the four prime things that should be first and most studied and searched. If any cast off the study of these, they cannot be safe here, nor happy hereafter. It is my work as a Christian, but much more as I am a Watchman, to do my best to discover the fullness of Christ, the emptiness of the creature, and the snares of the great deceiver; which I have endeavored to do in the following discourse, according to that measure of grace which I have received from the Lord. God once accepted a handful of meal for a sacrifice (Lev. 2:2; 5:12), and a small quantity of goat's hair for an oblation; and I know that you have not so "learned the Father," as to despise "the day of small things" (Zech. 4:10).

Beloved, Satan being fallen from light to darkness, from felicity to misery, from heaven to hell, from an angel to a devil, is so full of malice and envy that he will leave no means unattempted, whereby he may make all others eternally miserable with himself; he being shut out of heaven, and shut up "under the chains of darkness until the judgment of the great day" (Jude 6), makes use of all his power and skill to bring all the sons of men into the same condition and condemnation with himself. Satan has cast such sinful seed into our souls, that now he can no sooner tempt, but we are ready to assent; he can no sooner have a plot upon us, but he makes a conquest of us. If he does but show men a little of the beauty and finery of the world, how ready are they to fall down and worship him! Whatever sin the heart of man is most prone to, that the devil will help forward.  

If David is proud of his people, Satan will provoke him to number them, that he may be yet prouder (2 Sam. 24). If Peter is slavishly fearful, Satan will put him upon rebuking and denying of Christ, to save his own skin (Matt. 16:22; 26:69-75). If Ahab's prophets are given to flatter, the devil will immediately become a lying spirit in the mouths of four hundred of them, and they shall flatter Ahab to his ruin (2 Kings 22). If Judas will be a traitor, Satan will quickly enter into his heart, and make him sell his master for money, which some heathen would never have done (John 13:2). If Ananias will lie for advantage, Satan will fill his heart that he may lie, with a witness, to the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:3). Satan loves to sail with the wind, and to suit men's temptations to their conditions and inclinations. If they be in prosperity, he will tempt them to deny God (Proverbs 30:9); if they be in adversity, he will tempt them to distrust God; if their knowledge be weak, he will tempt them to have low thoughts of God; if their conscience be tender, he will tempt to scrupulosity; if large, to carnal security; if bold-spirited, he will tempt to presumption; if timorous, to desperation; if flexible, to inconstancy; if stiff, to impenitency.


From the power, malice and skill of Satan--proceeds all the soul-killing plots, devices, stratagems and machinations, which are in the world. Several devices he has to draw souls to sin, and several plots he has to keep souls from all holy and heavenly services, and several stratagems he has to keep souls in a mourning, staggering, doubting and questioning condition.
He has several devices to destroy the great and honorable, the wise and learned, the blind and ignorant, the rich and the poor, the real and the nominal Christians.

At one time, he will restrain from tempting, that we may think ourselves secure, and neglect our watch. At another time he will seem to flee, that he may make us proud of the victory. At one time he will fix men's eyes on others' sins than their own, that he may puff them up. At another time he may fix their eyes more on others' graces than their own, that he may discourage them. A man may as well count the stars, and number the sands of the sea, as reckon up all the Devices of Satan; yet those which are most considerable, and by which he does most mischief to the precious souls of men, are in the following treatise discovered, and the Remedies against them prescribed.

Beloved, I think it necessary to give you and the world a faithful account of the reasons moving me to appear in print, in these days, wherein we may say, there was never more writing and yet never less practicing, and they are these that follow:

Reason 1. Because Satan has a greater influence upon men, and higher advantages over them than they think he has--and the knowledge of his high advantage is the highway to disappoint him, and to render the soul strong in resisting, and happy in conquering.
Reason 2. Your importunity, and the importunity of many other "precious sons of Zion" (Lam. 4:2), has after much striving with God, my own heart, and others, made a conquest of me, and forced me to do that at last, which at first was not a little contrary to my inclination and resolution.
Reason 3. The strange opposition that I met with from Satan, in the study of this following discourse, has put an edge upon my spirit, knowing that Satan strives mightily to keep those things from seeing the light, that tend eminently to shake and break his kingdom of darkness, and to lift up the kingdom and glory of the Lord Jesus Christ, in the souls and lives of the men.
Reason 4. Its exceeding usefulness to all sorts, ranks and conditions of men in the world. Here you have salvefor every sore, and a plaster for every wound, and a remedy against every disease, especially against those that tend most to the undoing of souls, and the ruin of the State.
Reason 5. I know not of any one or other that have written of this subject; all that ever I have seen have only touched upon this theme, which has been no small provocation to me, to attempt to do something this way, that others, that have better heads and hearts, may be the more stirred to improve their talents in a further discovery of Satan's Devices, and in making known of such choice Remedies, as may enable the souls of men to triumph over all his plots and stratagems.
Reason 6. I have many precious friends in several countries, who are desirous that my pen may reach them, now that my voice cannot. I have formerly been, by the help of the mighty God of Jacob, a weak instrument of good to them, and cannot but hope and believe that the Lord will also bless these labors to them; they being, in part, the fruit of their desires and prayers.
Reason 7. Lastly, Not knowing how soon my hour-glass may be out, and how soon I may be cut off by a hand of death from all opportunities of doing further service for Christ or your souls in this world, I was willing to sow a little handful of spiritual seed among you; that so, when I put off this earthly tabernacle, my love to you, and that dear remembrance of you, which I have in my soul, may strongly engage your minds and spirits to make this book your companion, and under all external or internal changes, to make use of this heavenly salve, which I hope will, by the blessing of the Lord, be as effectual for the healing of all your wounds, as their looking up to the bronze serpent was effectual to heal theirs--who were bit and stung with fiery serpents. I shall leave this book with you as a legacy of my dearest love, desiring the Lord to make it a far greater and sweeter legacy than all those carnal legacies that are left by the high and mighty ones of the earth to their nearest and dearest relations.

Beloved, I would not have affection carry my pen too much beyond my intention. Therefore, only give me leave to signify my desires for you, and my desires to you, and I shall draw to a close,

My desires for you are, "that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." (Eph. 3:16-19) "And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light." (Col. 1:10-12) "That you do no evil." (2 Cor. 13:7); "That your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge, and in all judgment." "That you may approve things that are excellent, that you may be sincere, and without offence until the day of Christ." (Phil. 1:27, 4:1) That "our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power." "That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ." (2 Thess. 1:11, 12) And that you may be eminent in sanctity, sanctity being Zion's glory (Psalm 93:5); that your hearts may be kept upright, your judgments sound, and your lives unblamable. That as you are now "my joy", so in the day of Christ you may be "my crown"; that I may see my labors in your lives; that your lives may not be earthly, when the things you hear are heavenly; but that it may be "as becomes the gospel" (Phil. 1:9, 10).
That as the fish which live in the salt sea yet are fresh, so you, though you live in an ungodly world, may yet be godly and loving; that you may, like the bee, suck honey out of every flower; that you may shine in a sea of troubles, as the pearl shines in the sky, though it grows in the sea; that in all your trials you may shine like the stone in Thracia, which neither burns in the fire nor sinks in the water; that you may be like the heavens, excellent in substance and beautiful in appearance; that so you may meet me with joy in that day wherein Christ shall say to his Father, "Lo, here am I, and the children that you have given me" (Is. 8:18).

My desires to you are--That you would make it your business to study Christ, his Word, your own hearts, Satan's plots, and eternity--more than ever. That you would endeavor more to be inwardly sincere than outwardly glorious; to live, than to have a mere name to live. That you would labor with all your might to be thankful under mercies, and faithful in your places, and humble under divine appearances, and fruitful under precious ordinances. That as your means and mercies are greater than others--so your account before God may not prove a worse than others. That you would pray for me, who am not worthy to be named among the saints, that I may be a precious instrument in the hand of Christ to bring in many souls unto him, and to build up those who are brought in, in their most holy faith; and "that utterance may be given to me, that I may make known all the will of God" (Eph. 6:19); that I may be sincere, faithful, frequent, fervent and constant in the work of the Lord, and that my labor be not in vain in the Lord; that my labors may be accepted in the Lord and his saints, and I may daily see the travail of my soul.

But, above all, pray for me--that I may more and more find the power and sweet of those things upon my own heart, that I give out to you and others; that my soul may be so visited with strength from on high, that I may live up fully and constantly to those truths that I hold forth to the world; and that I may be both in life and doctrine "a burning and a shining light," that so, when the Lord Jesus shall appear, "I may receive a crown of glory which he shall give to me in that day, and not only to me, but to all who love his appearing." (John 5:35 and 2 Tim. 1:8).

For a close, remember this, that your life is short, your duties many, your assistance great, and your reward sure; therefore faint not, hold on and hold up, in ways of well-doing, and heaven shall make amends for all!

Update (Cleaning, Photography, etc)


I am going to start co-cleaning at people's houses soon with the friend I cleaned the post office with for 7 months.
I am excited about that.
It will give me time to do my personal life things as well. We will be working the time we want to and such. Also, we'll be using only Natural homemade cleaners. Can I get a Yes ma'am? I am so excited!

Today I spent almost 5 hours cleaning a friend's home for a  surprise for the guy's wife, since the house was really dirty and they were on vacation and he wanted her to come home to a clean home. It was likely one of the dirtest houses I have ever cleaned....but it was meticulously organized, which was nice...but ohh so dirty!  Also, they had all wood floors which is totally me all the way! :D (Even the old skinny dark wood floors type. Yeah! )

So last week I got Flemish Giant Rabbits. I will be building them hutches very soon. Breeding comes in a couple months down the road...crazy!

On top of all this craziness I am going to upgrade my camera lens. If I feel I have enough saved up first. We'll see! But let's not get ahead of myself...

I am also starting up school again. It has been on and off recently. It has been hard readjusting to not cleaning at the PO every day. All is good though! : -)
There is truly nothing like HOME!

The Dangers of Pornography in Marriage

The article:
Pornography is rampant in the world we live in — especially because of the internet. Without leaving home, a person is just a few clicks away from the raunchiest and most explicit sexual information in the world. Even though a majority of pornography is viewed by men, an increasing number of women are being entertained by it and even becoming addicted to it.
The problems with pornography are vast. First of all, for men, pornography changes the way they view women in a negative manner. Research has proven that just two sessions of one hour exposures of R-rated sexual entertainment changes men’s attitudes toward women. They begin to objectify women and no longer see them as individually unique or valuable. The reason is because of the demeaning manner in which women and sex are portrayed. Can you imagine what happens to a man’s view of his wife after watching X X X porn?
The second problem with any form of pornography is that it introduces another person into a couple’s sex life. According to Jesus, simply looking at another person in a longing and lustful manner is equal to adultery. Inevitably, we begin to compare our spouse’s body and sexual performance to the person or people in the pornography we are viewing. Also, we are making a very damaging statement to our spouse that they simply aren’t enough for us. Of course, when stimulated by pornography, no number of women or men could ever satisfy us. It is an insatiable appetite.
The third problem with pornography is escalation. The same stimulation that once satisfied no longer satisfies and so the porn must become more explicit and raunchy, until it takes over a person’s life and destroys a marriage. I’ve heard people say that they used porn to spice up their sex lives in marriage. Porn will spice up your sex life like hydrochloric acid will spice up your food. Porn always destroys lives and robs you of the sacred intimacy and sexual fulfillment you could have had.
Let me offer several answers for those of you being affected by pornography. The first steps toward freedom are repentance and accountability. If you are viewing porn, find a godly pastor or friend you can confide in and become accountable to. Many churches have groups where men and women meet on a weekly basis to study the bible and pray with each other. In fact, many churches and communities are offering help for those with sexual addictions. Don’t let pornography ruin your life and marriage — get help.
The second critical issue related to being set free from pornography is changing your thought life. It is the ONLY WAY you can be set free from pornography permanently. I have written a small book called “A Mind Set Free”. I wrote it specifically to help people escape from pornography and sexual addictions. I would encourage you to click here to order the book. It will help you understand this issue and give you or someone you love the practical steps for freedom.
Now, if you are a wife and your husband is viewing pornography, there are some important things that you can do. The first is to pray and don’t give up. I know it can be very discouraging and hurtful when your husband is involved in pornography. The devil will try to use that fact to defeat you. Stand up and fight the good fight. Go into your prayer closet and pray for God to change your husband’s heart — do spiritual warfare for him.
Also, without ever enabling the sin in your husband’s life, don’t stop pursuing him sexually and emotionally. Rarely is a man’s addiction to pornography a sexual issue. In most cases, men are using pornography to fill an emotional void or to deal with pain. Even though it is sin and can’t be tolerated, understanding the reason behind it can help you to have compassion and understanding.
Don’t give your husband up to pornography. Fight for his heart and for the marriage as you treat pornography like an unwanted other woman. God has put incredible relational brilliance and spiritual power into the souls of women. Go on the offensive with the faith and love of God and kick the devil out of your house!

Update (June 27th)


Heyy y'all!

I know it has been a while and I feel it is about time for an update on everything going on. Aye?

I can't believe how fast this year is going by!
So, I am going to tell you a little secret! I am setting up (with a friend of mine who is a web designer) a website for general homemaking. I am soo excited how it is turning out and will share it with y'all when it is published. :) It has been months since I started setting it up and it is ALMOST done. *Happy Squeal!*

The weather has been nice and warm...but cool, which is nice, but I am a warm weather all the way y'all. I am a Southern gal at heart....You know that already! ;) But knowing me, I'll end up marrying a true Northern and I'll be stuck up North for the rest my life. Ha! Seriously though, I'll be thankful where ever the Lord places me in life. :) Just...please no Alaska!!! ;)  

So I made some yummy muffin recipes lately. I made on of Lemon Curd Blueberry, but don't know where my pictures of them are. :( They looked and tasted amazing! Ohh myy, I am getting hungry just thinking about them! :D

Alright, so I am going to be leaving my Post office janitor job soon. I am happy and sad at the same time. I can't wait to be home, but I'll miss all the friends I have made there! The business I (and my friend who I am co-working with) am working for is putting the business up for bid because the woman who runs it is married with 5 children and with starting homeschooling this year is too much for her. Sounds reasonable though. I am so excited to be home from all the work I had to there in only a couple weeks! I will be able to clean/ organize our home more then!
And, not to mention finally get my school done or at least get more done! I wont get into that though as I get myself upset. God's timing- God's timing. :)

I am researching different places on the benefits of raw milk. I have been drinking it for years and years now and never ever want to go back to that gross, bad for you, processed store bought milk. I pray that when I get married I will be able to bless my family with raw milk (and other healthy, natural products)- the wonders of God's natural and fresh products!!

I need to practice photography shots for my hopefully upcoming session with a newborn....Yes, a NEWBORN! I am so scared about that....What if I make a mistake.....I can't really retake a newborn session....Ugh....PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!! And a lot of Prayer! :)

Ohh, this spring I got a buck kid from a friend that lives in New York, and that has been great! His name is Demi. Here's a picture I got of him.
All our farm animals are doing well and enjoying the mild summer weather. We will be having pork from our two huge hogs very soon. Soo excited, even though I will miss their daily morning happy greeting grunts. *sniff* *grabs the tissue box* "Ohh nevermind! I smell BACON!!!!!"

I am going to be selling this kitty soon. Hoping he goes to a very special home!

I am going to be getting back into practicing guitar playing as well. That's exciting for me too.
We'll see what I'll be able to get done this fast-going year!

I have been reading through The Doctrine of Repentance by Thomas Watson at night right before I go to sleep. It is very edifying and convicting to read. I recommend this book to everyone.
I think we can all search our life and find something we need to repent from- we are all sinners. We need to repent and truly repent.

  • Look upon sin in its nature, and it will appear very hateful. See how
    Scripture has penciled it out: it is a dishonoring of God (Rom. 2.25); a despising of God (I Sam. 2.30); a fretting of God (Ezek. 16.43); a wearying of God (Isa. 7.13); a breaking the heart of God, as a loving husband is with the unchaste conduct of his wife: ‘I am broken with their whorish heart’ (Ezek. 6.9). Sin, when acted to the height, is a crucifying Christ afresh and putting him to open shame (Heb. 6.6), that is, impudent sinners pierce Christ in his saints, and were he now upon earth they would crucify him again in his person.
    Affliction can take away life; sin takes away the soul (Luke 12:20).

    The very day a Christian turns from sin he must enjoin himself a perpetual fast. The eye must fast from impure glances. The ear must fast from hearing slanders. The tongue must fast from oaths. The hands must fast from bribes. The feet must fast from the path of the harlot. And the soul must fast from the love of wickedness. This turning from sin implies a notable change.

    A man may restrain the acts of sin, yet not turn from sin a right manner. Acts of sin may be restrained out of fear or design, but a true penitent turns from sin out of a religious principle, namely, love to God. Even if sin did not bear such bitter fruit, if death did not grow on this tree, a gracious soul would forsake it out of love to God. This is the most kindly turning from sin. When things are frozen and congealed, the best way to separate them is by fire. When men and their sins are congealed together, the best way to separate them is by the fire of love. Three men, asking one another what made them leave sin: one says, I think of the joys of heaven; another, I think of the torments of hell; but the third, I think of the love of God, and that makes me forsake it. How shall I offend the God of love?

    Till sin be bitter, Christ will not be sweet.
    If prayer does not make a man leave sin, sin will make him leave prayer.
    As the plough, when it breaks up the ground, fits it for the seed, so when the heart is broken up by repentance, it is fitted for remission, but it does not merit it. God will not save us without repentance, nor yet for it. Repentance is a qualification, not a cause. I grant repenting tears are precious. They are, as Gregory said, the fat of the sacrifice; as Basil said, the medicine of the soul; and as Bernard, the wine of angels. But yet, tears are not satisfactory for sin. We drop sin with our tears, therefore they cannot satisfy. Augustine said well: I have read of Peter’s tears, but no man ever read of Peter’s satisfaction. Christ’s blood only can merit pardon. We please God by repentance but we do not satisfy him by it. To trust to our repentance is to make it a savior. Though repentance helps to purge out the filth of sin, yet it is Christ’s blood that washes away the guilt of sin. Therefore do not idolize repentance.  Do not rest upon this, that your heart has been wounded for sin, but rather that your Savior is been wounded for sin. When you have wept, say with him: Lord Jesus, wash my tears in thy blood.

Please Pray for the Einwechter Family!

Please pray for the Einwechter family.



On Monday, Monique Einwechter crashed her Ford Expedition into the pond on her parents' property in eastern Bledsoe County. Family members saved Einwechter, 2-year-old Jonathan David and 1-year-old Titus. But they couldn't reach 3-year-old Elise or 6-week-old Enoch in time.

Jonathan's (Monique's husband) Account of the Accident:

(All the details of this account are accurate to the best of my knowledge and memory as witnessed from my perspective but is likely not accurate in every detail.)

"On Monday, February 24th 2014, after rising at 2:45 AM to finish the last leg of our moving trip from Pennsylvania to Tennessee (traveling from OH to TN on Monday), we arrived in Dayton, TN around noon. We spent the afternoon and evening painting our new apartment on the Hoffmans’ property. My darling wife stopped painting early to spend some special time with the children before supper, particularly since it had been lacking for the last few days with our move. Around 8 PM, Monique and I sat on the couch with all our children to eat supper as a family, instead of at the table with the others who had been helping us move.

After a bit of discussion, we decided to take two vehicles to where we would spend the night since we didn't have enough seats in our vehicle. We loaded all four of the children into the Expedition, which Monique was driving; and the two girls (Chrissy S. and Christiana R.) traveling with us and a local young man (Luke Holloway) came in another vehicle with me. We had only gotten half way out the long driveway when I noticed Monique’s headlights were no longer behind me. I started reversing down the lane while rolling down the window. As I did so, I heard Monique blowing the horn constantly; and to my horror I only saw one headlight was sticking out of the small pond next to the driveway! I leaped out of my vehicle’s window, since I couldn’t find the latch in the dark, and went running toward our Expedition, which had flipped off the lane into the water with my precious family inside.

I jumped on top of the vehicle that was now on its side partially submerged in 2 feet of water. My wife was still buckled into her seat, which was on the upper side of the vehicle above the water. After shouting for her to unlock the door, which we couldn’t get unlocked, I yelled for a rock to break the window. By this time, everyone in her parents’ house (only 100-200 yards from the pond) and the people in my vehicle were on the scene doing what they could. In a few seconds, I was back on top the vehicle breaking the driver’s window, since Monique had unbuckled and was standing up on the passenger's window on opposite downward side of the vehicle trying to unbuckle the children. She got Titus unbuckled and handed him to me through the broken window, who I grabbed by his coat and passed to Christian R. Samuel Hoffman (Monique’s 16 year old brother) managed to open the rear window and pull Jon David out. At this point, with only 2 out of 5 occupants rescued, the vehicle rolled in “slow-motion” onto its roof to a deeper part of the pond only leaving the wheels and undercarriage exposed.

My mind was filled with horror as I thought of my wife and three children (at this point I was unaware of Samuel’s success in rescuing Jon David) trapped under approximately 35 degree water.

Everyone worked so hard! The girls took our two rescued boys to the house to warm up, many people were on the shore doing whatever they could, Luke Holloway tried extremely hard in vain to keep the vehicle from rolling, and Joe Hoffman (Monique’s father), Samuel, and I were totally in the water doing everything we knew how to get our trapped ones out. There were prayers, screams, and shouts from everyone. The water was so cold, though. We could only be under it for a few seconds before our limbs began to lose responsiveness and we had to get out.
Monique’s Navy dad finally broke a second window, allowing the opportunity to try and pull our loved ones out. We all took forays underneath the water, trying to reach anyone we could inside. But the water was so cold and dark that we couldn’t stay in long enough to accomplish much. After one such attempt, while I was on top the upside down vehicle “warming up”, I heard Monique’s dad towing her to shore yelling he’d gotten her. Apparently, he’d been able to open the rear passenger door and pull her out. She was unconscious, not breathing, and gray. Samuel did CPR on her for a minute or two until she revived and started moaning for her babies.

From Monique’s side of the story, when the car flipped, all the children (except for Enoch who never made a sound) started screaming; she started blowing the horn for help, and tried calming the children by singing to them. When she couldn’t calm them, she just held the horn down in an all-out endeavor to call for help, which alerted the Hoffmans it wasn’t just the car alarm going off. When the first of us arrived to the car, she unbuckled herself and started unbuckling Titus, who she handed to me. As Samuel pulled Jon David out the back, Elise nervously kept asking him to “Get me out, get me out!” He said, “I’ll be right back for you.” When Elise heard this, she calmed right down because she lovingly trusted him to return. Seconds later, the car rolled and submerged with Elise, Enoch, and Monique in it. Elise’s last words to her beloved mommy were “I’m going to drown.” And Monique assured her she would get her out and everything would be alright. (And now they are: in Heaven!)

Even once the vehicle was completely filled with water and dark she kept trying to find the children’s seat belts. Once this was obviously impossible, she tried escaping herself, only to keep bumping into things. At this point she began breathing in water, felt her limbs paralyze, and realizing she was dying, and prayed for peace before going unconscious.

Back to Jon's perspective. While Monique was being rescued, I sat on top the vehicle and prayed for courage to try one last time to rescue them. I thought of how cold I was out of the water and how terribly cold only a few seconds in the freezing water made me. Then I thought of my poor little children still trapped under the water minute after minute (probably at least 5-7 minutes by then). My body rebelled at the idea of diving under the “35 degree” water to go back inside a car through a broken window. But I knew I had to try once more. So I told Samuel to hold my legs as I plunged into the vehicle head first until I was through the window least past my waist. I felt around until I grabbed something made of fabric, kicked my legs until Samuel pulled me out, only to find I had saved a large blanket. In disappointment, I hopped back up onto the car to “warm up”. Then I had to make a very hard decision – do I try going back for the children in what would be almost certainly a futile attempt or do I try to save Monique who’s at least half alive, laying half in the water and half on the muddy bank? My first-aid training came back to me, and I made the hard decision focus on the one I could probably help and let my precious children in Christ's hands. It was all I could do. We tried… we really, really did!

Around this time, all of us who were in the water splashed over to where Monique was lying. With Samuel and Monique’s dad in the shallow water getting somewhat cut up on the barbed wire that had been knocked into the water and her mom and I on the bank, we all pulled her out. Samuel and I laid on top her to warm her, and Noah ran to the house for blankets, which we piled on her. By this time the first responders began arriving. Monique’s mom, Brenda, started shouting for Samuel and I to go warm up in the house, since we were shaking uncontrollably, which we did after a bit of persuasion, leaving Monique with others. We flopped down by the fire, got most of our wet clothes off, and I was buried under blankets while Samuel took a hot shower to warm up.
With everything being chaos by the pond as they tried to get a tow truck down the lane to pull the vehicle out to rescue the children, it did not seem that Monique was receiving sufficent care by enough people as she lay on the freezing ground. So, her Mom told her to run to the house for the two little boys' sake that we had left. Miraculously, she jumped up and out ran her mother to the house through the dark over rough terrain! Once inside, she and I were surrounded by at least three EMTs and Paramedics who put hot packs, hot towels, etc. on us while running warm fluid in by IV.

We lay there a long time while they warmed us up. Monique was obviously the primary patient, considering her gray skin and what she had under gone – essentially drowning. Everyone else who’d also been in the water was shaking uncontrollably. I’m guessing it was probably an hour before the lane was cleared enough of emergency vehicles for them to transport us to the hospital. But while we lay there, in front of the warm fire, it was hard to think of our two little children still out in the water. The Lord was amazing in the grace he showed us, though. Various people started singing hymns. The lead paramedic actually led a couple of these songs in his deep voice, and one of the EMTs said he was a pastor and prayed over Monique. The Lord was with us in a special way there in that kitchen during that dark hour. I still love our faithful Master!

Once the vehicle was pulled out far enough to extract the children, they were medevac’d to two different hospitals. The doctors worked on each child for hours attempting to bring them back, which is way more than I would have expected of them. I’m so blessed they tried so hard to save our babies!
Monique and I were taken to Rhea County Hospital in Dayton. I was released within a few hours because I had warmed up fine. My wife was given a lot of good, courteous care in the ER and then moved to a room that night. The next day she was transported to the ICU at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga because they have better equipment in case her condition turned worse. She spent a little over a day in there until her condition improved enough for her to be taken to a regular room. On Friday, early afternoon she was released to go home.
There’s much more I could say of the heroic efforts of everyone involved, many of them unnamed in this document. The emergency workers were on site until at least 2 or 3 AM, many local people stopped by to help with what they could, and all the Hoffman’s, from the youngest to the oldest, did an excellent job assisting in the rescue and warming us up (actually earning the high complements of the lead paramedic for doing a great job).
We are so thankful everyone’s help, much of it still unknown to my wife and me.

The Lord is our Rock and Strong Tower in this time of earthly loss. Jesus is taking care of our little ones right now, as they dance and sing with joy to Him! I like to think we got out of the vehicle everyone we could and Jesus got the rest out to go Home with Him.

Goat Kids, Young Living Essential Oils, and Flu

It has been while....my life has been busy. Don't I always start with that? I know, I know, we are all sick of the "I am sooooo busy" posts and such. But anyway, I'll just start with what I have been up to.

Last month I did a baby session which went AWESOME and got some adorable pictures. (Which reminds me I need to go edit the rest of that session this week before it gets any later!!) Isn't she the cutest thing? :D

The other week back I decided I would start up my schedule and STICK TO IT...well a little after that, kid goats were born. They kept coming and coming- which wasn't a bad thing per se, except the fact I ended up having to bottle feed them for many reasons... Nursed one back to health after it almost died, two were abandoned by their mother, and one's mother didn't get  milk in, etc....It was crazy. I wasn't getting much sleep taking care of them all. Well, some died, some had to be put down...it was soo sad, but now two are healthy, lively and happy and I still battle-feed them.
Finally last week, I was getting good amount o sleep and ready to start this schedule I have been putting off. So started it I did...Went as planned for one day and the next day I started coming down with something...not just "something", but the flu of all things, annnd I got a fever too. It was terrible. I was in bed most of the day and then some. So now I am pretty much better (just a lingering cough) and I am starting this schedule again. One day now it has gone great! Praying it actually finally stick from now on!!

I am still working at the post office in the mornings and it has been going well. Nice to get money and start actually saving up. I am only going to be at this job until the Spring. My neighbour works with me and she is going to leave to get a "better job" to be able to buy a car, etc. She is going to be baby-sitting at peoples' houses (or a family's house), which I know she'll be good at since she's been baby sitting and her sisters have been since she was very little and she has her practice in for sure....I am slightly jealous about that actually...But I help her out with kids she babysits at home sometimes and I usually end up with a headache for some reason. ;) Children apparently don't know what the word 'quiet' means...but I think we all knew that, didn't we?

I got my first shipment of essential oils this week from Young Living and am sooo excited!! My Dad is not convinced of using oils, but the only way to know if they work is to test them out, right?!?! ;)
